Doing facial exercises can actually stretch skin and cause more lines and wrinkles. The face is the one area of the body where muscles connect directly to the skin – there are no ligaments or other tissue padding in between. Your constant smile over time creates “laugh lines” (with the help of gravity) and so, similarly, any repetitive facial exercises can do the same. Daily facial maneuvers and manipulations can cause lines, furrows and sagging.

Why use Organic Beauty Prodcuts?
What you put on your skin eventually ends up in your body. Certified organic products are made with ingredients that are grown free of synthetic pesticides, herbicides and genetically modified organisms. They also don’t include harmful additives such as petroleum waxes, fillers and artificial chemicals. Simply put, certified organic products are completely healthy and natural, synthetic alternatives are not.
Organic vs. Biodynamic
Organic and biodynamic are very similar; both are grown without chemicals and GMOs. However, biodynamic goes one step further. The main difference between organic and biodynamic is that biodynamic farming uses different principles that add vitality to the plant, soil and/or livestock, whereas traditional farming typically deteriorates the soil.
What does this have to do with my Skincare?
With the over-processing of soil, plants are losing their nutrients, minerals and vitamins. Biodynamic farming creates plants that are more vital and nutrient rich.Meaning you are ensuring the highest quality of healing, nutrition and protection for your skin and the environment!
Winter often leaves its mark, branding us with dull, dry skin and a sallow complexion. We all want that glowing skin and exfoliation is essential for sloughing off less than lively skin cells.
Our Skincare Therapists recommend adding a noninvasive specialized peel onto your next facial (only $10-20 extra).
Here's a look at some that we offer:
30% Lactic Acid-is a milder form of AHA that is derived from milk. Excellent for first timers or sensitive skin with fine lines, pigmentation and mild acne scars.
30% Glycolic Acid- derived from sugar cane, this brightening peel targets wrinkles, uneven skin texture and discoloration.
3 Step Peel- an expert blend of AHA's and BHA's improves skin density, firmness and reduces blemishes, scarring and pore size.
If you're in your teens, you are just at the right time to start taking care of your skin properly. This will help avoid skin care problems caused by improper habits. It doesn't take a lot of time, and it doesn't have to cost a lot of money. Teen skin care differs from your mom's skin care, so don't rely on her facial cleansers which are most likely not meant for your skin type.
Protect your skin.
Use sun screen. We all know that sun screen protects your skin from the sun, and this obviously reduces your chance of skin cancer. Did you also know that this reduces your chance of signs of early aging? 90% of premature aging is caused by the sun. Sure, it may not be something that you are thinking of when you’re in your teens, but you'll be glad you did in 15 years. Apply sunscreen with a minimum SPF 15 (I recommend higher) when you're out in the sun or driving around with your friends and don't forget to reapply.
Ditch the bar soap you have in your shower.
Find a facial cleanser that's best for your skin type. Do you have oily skin? Many teens find that oily skin is their main concern, so look for a gel based cleanser if this is your problem. There are many affordable ones out there which include Salicylic Acid which helps clear acne. Make sure you wash your face in the morning and at night. You never want to sleep in your makeup.
Moisturize your face.
The idea that those with oily skin don't need a moisturizer is just plain false. What you do need is a light oil-free moisturizer to put on after you cleanse. Always moisturize after you wash and tone your face.
Use a weekly mask and a weekly Exfoliater.
A mask deep cleanses, while an Exfoliater removes the dry, dead skin cells. When choosing a mask, look for a clay mask like Peter Thomas Roth Sulfur Cooling Mask which will open pores and clean deep down. A weekly to Exfoliater will encourage new skin to grow healthier. Try facelogic Daily Advanced Peel or Eminence Pear and Poppy seed Microderm Polisher. Make sure you are gentle; if you over scrub, your skin may break out even further and dry out.
Admit it men! Most of you view a skin care regimen as a wash cloth and the same bar of soap you use in the shower. But regardless of gender, there is so much more involved in caring for your skin - and in fact, men are just as prone to skin ailments and premature aging as women.
The earlier you start caring for your skin, the better, if you want to keep it looking healthy or improve its condition. Looking after your skin is much easier than it was in the past, because nowadays there are so many more products on the market that are designed specifically for men. With everything from facial cleansers to exfoliators in “men friendly” container and scents filling up the shelves, you no longer have an excuse not to perform regular maintenance! Specially formulated 2 in 1 products for men are convenient to use and even Men’s facials are starting to be the number one service for men in spas!
Nobody really likes looking like last year's luggage. Nearly everyone with a crocodile complexion could have prevented it.
For both men and women, the aging process can cause the skin to go through many different changes. Hormones, the environment and how well we take care of our skin all impact how we age, and it’s important to remember that what our skin needed as a teenager is quite different from what it will need when we're 30, 40 and even 50 - for example, acne breakouts are (hopefully!) a thing of the past, but we’ll have to start thinking about fine lines and wrinkles. And so it goes on, as do the years.
Women’s Skin Care Through the Ages:
Tips for maintaining healthy, beautiful skin
As we age our skin goes through some dramatic changes. From the moment we hit puberty, we need to start taking good care of our skin bodies if we want to remain youthful into menopause and beyond.Starting the skincare process early will help hold off the signs of aging, and allow you to retain the soft, toned skin you’ve enjoyed in your youth.
The first defense against aging skin is cleansing. Washing you face twice daily with cool water and a good cleanser will keep your pores clear of dirt and oil and allow your skin to breathe. You will also decrease the occurrence of unsightly blemishes. The most important factor in choosing skin care products is to make sure it matches your skin type.
